How Much Does Area Rug Cleaning Cost in Seattle? (2026)
Area rug cleaning prices in Seattle: $145 small, $190 medium, $260 large, cleaned in your home. What changes the price, drying time, and which rugs we take.

How much does area rug cleaning cost in Seattle?
We price area rugs by size, one flat price per rug:
| Rug size | Price |
|---|---|
| Small, up to 5×8 | $145 |
| Medium, 5×8 to 8×10 | $190 |
| Large, 9×12 and up | $260 |
There is no Standard or Premium choice for rugs. Every rug needs careful drying, so that is part of the price, and there is nothing to upgrade.
Every visit has a $200 minimum. A large rug clears it on its own. A single small or medium rug comes to $200.
These are example prices for a rug in normal condition, not a final quote. Our manager confirms your number when they contact you, usually from a photo.
Why do most people clean a rug together with a couch?
Because of the minimum, and because the rug usually sits right in front of the couch. When we went through 42 real upholstery requests from Seattle homes, area rugs came up in 6 of them, and 5 of those also had a couch.
Here is how the numbers work out:
| Order | Total |
|---|---|
| Medium rug alone | $200 (the visit minimum) |
| Large rug alone | $260 |
| 3-seat couch + medium rug | $370 |
| 3-seat couch + small rug + armchair | $325 (the armchair is free) |
| 3-seat couch + two large rugs | $560 ($140 off the couch) |
With three pieces in one visit, the cheapest one is cleaned free once the pieces you pay for reach $200. The free piece is capped at loveseat value, $140. Couch prices are in our couch cleaning cost guide.
How do you clean a rug in my home?
We don't take rugs away. Everything happens on your floor, with the same equipment we use on couches:
- Check the fiber. The label on the back usually tells us if the rug is synthetic or wool, and that decides the method.
- Remove dry soil and hair before any water goes in.
- Pre-treat spots and stains.
- Extract. Synthetic rugs get the same hot-water extraction as a couch, with the same hand tool. Wool rugs get cold water and a gentle fine-fabric shampoo.
- Groom the pile and set up air movers to dry the rug as fast as possible.

The IICRC S100 standard is the industry reference for cleaning textile floor coverings, and it is a good place to read about why fiber type decides the method.
How long does a rug take to dry?
Usually 4 to 6 hours. Overnight is better, especially for thick wool or shag.
We set up air movers and keep them running as long as the visit allows. After we leave:
- Keep foot traffic and pets off the rug until it is dry.
- Don't put furniture back on it while it's damp.
- Keep air moving: open a window or run a fan if you can.

Which rugs can you clean, and which can't you?
Synthetic rugs (polypropylene, polyester, nylon). Yes. These take the same cleaning as a couch and handle hot water well.
Wool rugs. Yes, with cold water and a gentle shampoo. One honest note: on very thick, long-pile wool, the dirt sits deep in the pile. We can wash and refresh it and dry it well, but it may not come out as clean as a flat rug. We will tell you that before we start, not after.
Silk and antique Persian rugs. We haven't cleaned one yet. If yours is valuable, send a photo and the label from the back first, and we'll tell you whether we're the right fit.
Repairs. We clean rugs. We don't repair fringe, edges or holes.
Wall-to-wall carpet. We don't clean it. Only area rugs you can see the edges of.
